CITIZEN-INITIATED CHARTER AMENDMENT PETITION

Pursuant to Section 166.031, Florida Statutes

PURPOSE OF THIS PETITION

This petition is circulated by registered voters of the City of Port St. Lucie, Florida, for the purpose of requesting placement of a proposed Charter Amendment on the ballot for voter consideration at a future municipal election, subject to verification and qualification requirements under Florida law.

The proposed amendment addresses matters of municipal governance, including transparency, accountability, ethics standards, citizen oversight, executive responsibility, and public access to government records.

Government Eight Charter Amendment: Transparency, Accountability, and Executive Leadership

BALLOT SUMMARY

This amendment proposes revisions to the Charter of the City of Port St. Lucie to establish structured transparency standards; reinforce ethics and anti‑retaliation protections; clarify executive and administrative authority; define attendance standards for elected officials; create a Citizen Oversight Board; modify term limit provisions; and strengthen documentation and financial disclosure procedures.

The amendment further provides procedural clarifications regarding initiative, referendum, recall, and enforcement mechanisms, consistent with Florida law.

PETITION STATEMENT

I, the undersigned, am a registered voter of the City of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and hereby petition the City to place the proposed Government Eight Charter Amendment on the ballot for voter consideration, pursuant to Section 166.031, Florida Statutes.

By signing this petition, I affirm that:

  • I am a registered elector of the City of Port St. Lucie, Florida;

  • I have read, or have had the opportunity to read, the proposed Charter Amendment; and

  • I support placing this measure on the ballot for voter consideration.
